The Data tab in ChatNode enables you to feed your chatbot with various data sources, ensuring it has the information it needs to answer user questions accurately. You can add data in three main formats: Websites, Files, and Text. Let’s take a closer look at each of these sections.
1. Websites
The Websites section allows you to add web-based content to train your chatbot. Here’s how it works:
- URL Input: Enter the URL of a website or sitemap that contains relevant information. For example, if you want your bot to pull data from a product FAQ page, simply enter the URL of that page.
- Data Scraping: ChatNode will scrape data from the website to use as a knowledge base for answering questions.
This feature is beneficial if your business has frequently updated information on a website, as it allows the bot to access and leverage that data in real-time.
- Below the URL field, you'll find a toggle button labeled "Import Sub-Pages".
- Turn the toggle on if you want to include sub-pages in the scraping process.
- Leave it off if you only want to scrape the main page.
2. Files
The Files section allows you to upload various file types that the bot can reference to provide answers. Here are the key points:
- Supported File Types: ChatNode supports several file formats, including PDF, Word (DOCX), Excel (XLSX), PowerPoint (PPTX), TXT, RTF, CSV, Markdown (MD), TSV, JSON, EML, and MSG files.
- Upload Limit: Each file must be within an 8MB limit for the Free and Lite Plans, and a 20MB limit for the Standard and Scale Plans.
- File Upload: Simply click on Choose Files, select the files you want to upload, and they’ll be added to the chatbot’s database.
This feature is useful for adding documents such as manuals, guides, or any other relevant files that can aid the bot in answering user questions accurately.
3. Text
The Text section enables you to manually input custom text for the chatbot to use. This option is ideal for providing concise, focused information.
- Custom Input: You can enter a title and detailed text content. This could include product descriptions, company information, or any specific responses you want the bot to use.
- Training the Bot: After entering the text, click Train to incorporate this information into the bot’s knowledge base.
Using custom text is helpful when you need to add specific information that isn’t available in files or on a website. It also allows you to add more direct and targeted responses for particular user queries.
