How to Set Up Your First Chatbot

Step 1: Log In

Before you begin, make sure you’re logged into your ChatNode account. Once you’re logged in, you’ll see a central button labeled "Create Chatbot +" Click this button to start the process.

You'll be prompted to enter a name for your bot. Please input your desired bot name and click 'Next'

Step 2: Choose Your Data Input Method

After clicking the button, you will be directed to a new page that prompts you to 'Data' tab.

You have three options to choose from:

Websites:

• Enter the website/URL of the knowledge data you want the bot to fetch. Then, click 'Add Website'. 
• A pop-up box will appear with a field to enter the website URL or sitemap
• Below the URL field, you'll find a toggle button labeled "Import Sub-Pages".
  • Turn the toggle on if you want to include sub-pages in the scraping process.
  • Leave it off if you only want to scrape the main page.
• Once you've entered the URL and set your sub-page preference, click the arrow button to proceed.

• File: Upload your selected files in an acceptable format. Ensure the files contain the knowledge your bot will need. Then, click 'Add File +' 
  
  
• Text: Directly type in all necessary details and information for your bot. 
  
  

Choose the method that best suits your needs.

Step 3: Train Your Bot

After entering your data, click the "Train" button. This process will configure your chatbot using the information you provided.

Step 4: Test Your Bot

Once training is complete, it’s crucial to test your bot to ensure it responds accurately to inquiries. Navigate to the chat interface and ask your bot a few questions. Here are some examples:

Step 5: Finalize Your Bot

Access the Bot's Share Settings

• Log in to your ChatNode account and navigate to the bot you wish to deploy.
• Under the "Share" tab, you'll see the Popup Chat section. This section contains the code necessary to embed the chatbot on your website.
  
  

Make Your Bot Public

• If your bot is currently set to private, you need to make it public in order to deploy it on your website.
• Click the Make Public button. This action will allow the bot to be shared and embedded on external platforms, such as websites.
• If needed, you can control where the bot is allowed to be deployed by using the Share Settings.
  
  

Copy the Embed Code

• After setting the bot to public, scroll down to the section labeled Popup Chat.
• Here, you'll find the embed code. Copy the entire script provided. This code allows you to integrate the chatbot into your website.
  
  

Paste the Code into Your Website

• Go to the HTML editor of your website (for platforms like WordPress, Webflow, etc.).
• Paste the copied embed code anywhere in the page. 

Verify Deployment

• After pasting the code, save the changes and refresh your website. The chatbot should now appear on your site as a popup or embedded chat interface, depending on how you configured it.
